When it comes to insulin resistance, there is so much good news! We can prevent it and treat it!! Yay!!! How? We, first, need to figure out what is causing this problem to begin with.
Food is a big factor. Dietary sugars and refined flours are the biggest triggers of inflammation and cause insulin spikes. Artificial sweeteners have been linked to weight gain and diabetes. The lack of fiber can lead to increased visceral fat, and an increased amount of omega 6 and a deficiency of omega 3 can contribute to system inflammation, leading to worsening insulin resistance.
