BRUSHNSOAPNBLADE – WET SHAVING PODCAST – WHERE WE LOOK...
BrushnSoapnBlade – Wet Shaving Podcast – Where we look forward to shaving every day! A podcast dedicated to my journey and enjoyment of wet shaving with vintage safety razors. So, how did I get into wet shaving? Below is my story. I recently found that I enjoy shaving again. There was a time when I stressed and hurried and it was getting to me. One of the things that I did was slow down and try to enjoy the simple things. One of the simple things that I now enjoy is wet shaving. I started this blog to share my experiences with traditional wet shaving.. I had previously shaved in the shower. I was wet shaving and didn’t even know it. I used a Good News disposable plastic razor. Shaving in the shower using normal soap was the normal. I didn’t have a mirror. I didn’t need one. Just got used to it over time I guess. Some think this talent to not use a mirror is a secret Ninja skill. I figured I was just lazy. But back to the story.. This caused a couple of things. First, since I didn’t use a mirror, everything was done by feel. Needless to say, I understood the grain of my beard. It was just a natural outcome of wet shaving this way. Secondly, I found that my razors lasted for a long time. To have a disposable razor last 3 months was normal for me. I changed them out from time to time. Only because I felt they should be changed out, not that they really needed it. I found my first vintage Gillette double edge razor in an antique shop. I bought it and brought it home. It cleaned up nicely. I got some Wilkinson blades for it and tried it out. I got a good shave from it and it forced me to slow down just a bit. (I really enjoyed slowing down) I have continued acquiring Double Edge razors as well as Single Edge razors. I find that I like both styles. The brushes and soaps that I use have also added to the fun of the overall wet shaving experience. In order to better present this journey, I started a Blog and then added a Podcast. I find that I am a better speaker than I am a writer (or typist). So that’s how I started on this wonderful journey of traditional wet shaving. I’m more relaxed when I walk out of the house every morning after having a good, relaxing shave.
