002 - The Founding of the Church at Philippi
When writing to the church at Philippi, it is clear that this was a group that Paul cherished and one that could join in with his rejoicing! In order to have a proper understanding of the context of "joy in the church at Philippi," it is important to go back to Acts chapter sixteen to the founding of the church. In Acts sixteen, the writer - Luke - gives to us the record of the arrival of Paul and his missionary team. They come to the riverside where people are gathered. If we were passing by that day we would likely not notice anything unusual. But with the hindsight of Scripture, we know that what was taking place was the unfolding of God's redemption plan. What takes place in Acts is a pivotal part in the history of God's plan as those that turned the world upside down with the good news of the Gospel have, for the first time, brought the message to the European continent. Listen today as Pastor Jeremy Wakefield gives us a review of the founding of the church at Philippi.
