Today I got to see a couple of people haven't seen in a long time and he caught me to thinking about how important friendship truly is. We all know it, but are we spending the time that we should cultivate those friendships? My dearest friend in the world lives in Tokyo and I don't get to talk to her very often but today I found a shirt that says Tokyo in huge letters on the front and it made me so happy because now when I create a video and I'm wearing it, she'll know the second she scrolled through my channel that I was thinking of her. It may be small and it may be silly, but it's just something that made me feel really good and I wanted to share. I was chatting with a fellow patient—a man in his late 60s—who was getting ready for a trip to the Amazon. It was such a beautiful reminder that adventure doesn’t have an age limit. We have to refuse to let a number or a setback define what is possible for us. It’s Never Too Late to Pursue Your Dreams I want to ask you: If you could do anything in the world—for fun, for work, or just because—what would it be? I know life presents challenges, but it is never too late to take that first step. So many of us say, "One day, when the kids are grown," or "when I have more money." But let’s be real—those are often just excuses that keep us stuck. You deserve to start now. Embracing Change and Forward Motion I’ve had my share of ups and downs, from being a single mom in LA making $9 an hour to finally following my dreams here by the ocean. I like to think of life like a train; people get on and off at different stops, and that’s okay. My message to you is simple: Don’t let your past prevent you from moving forward. There are beautiful things waiting for you if you just choose to keep going. Community and Connection Matter Whether I’m watching rocket launches from my front yard or swimming with the manatees, I’ve learned that happiness comes from your attitude and your actions, not from having "perfect" circumstances. You can find me in the following places: ABOUT RON Best known for his role as Music Director of Mountain Stage, the internationally acclaimed radio show, Ron Sowell is also a dynamic singer-songwriter, guitar & harmonica player, performer and producer. Growing up on the high deserts of Roswell, New Mexico. Ron dedicated his early years to sports and music. He learned to sing by mimicking his dad's high tenor in church and he played a mean third base for his state champion Little League team. At age 13 his life was altered forever when his mother bought him a guitar and lessons at a local music store. Buoyed by her encouragement and the revelation that "girls dig it" Ron played "till his fingers hurt" in a series of rock bands and folk groups. In high school he was crushed by the realization (and several NFL-sized linebackers) that at 5'8" and 155 pounds, a professional sports career was not in his future. So, heading off to college with a scholarship to sing in the choir in his pocket, Ron dove headlong into developing his musical skills. It was there that he began writing songs. After graduation from Eastern New Mexico University, he hit the road playing clubs and coffee houses. Four years later on a brief visit to the beautiful hills of West Virginia it felt "so right" that he unloaded his car and began putting down roots. There he formed two critically acclaimed bands "The Putnam County Pickers" and "Stark Raven" with whom he recorded four albums and clocked thousands of miles touring across the US, Germany, Turkey, Greece, Crete, Ethiopia and Greenland. About the same time Ron joined a fledgling local radio show called Mountain Stage as the resident guitar player eventually rising to the position of music director. Starting with a handful of local radio stations, Mountain Stage is now heard on almost 300 stations nationwide on NPR. As a member of the Mountain Stage Band he has played with a wide array of artists ranging from Sarah McLachlan, Lyle Lovette & Maria Muldaur to The Band, REM, Dr John & Nora Jones. "Dance Till the Music Stops" marks the release of his 4th solo album.

NOW it all makes sense - and it’s backed by science! ONE little hormone, or the lack of it has changed you. And that my friend - is it. Your lack of sleep, your lack- or seeming lack - of empathy, potential heart trouble - and that general feeling that everyone else can suck a lemon - because you're going to do what you want now. All explained. According to the Harvard article, What is oxytocin? "Oxytocin is a hormone that's produced in the hypothalamus and released into the bloodstream by the pituitary gland. Its main function is to facilitate childbirth, which is one of the reasons it is called the "love drug" or "love hormone." Oxytocin, like or , is a type of hormone in your body that promotes positive feelings.” And according to the Journal of Endocrinology, “Oxytocin is a neurohormone that regulates emotionality, social behaviors, and fundamental physiological systems. Welcome to our marathon of 50 Over 50 Podcaster award winners! Today's episode is one of 19 story hosted by Cheryl Holling The guest, Christy Harst,(that originally aired in May of 2024), has been heard on the World Series, Monday Night Football, and the NBA Finals as one of the national voices of YouTubeTV. She’s also the national voice of John Deere, and has voiced dozens of television, streaming, and radio ads. Her career in voiceover began in college when she applied for a news internship at a local classical radio station. It was during her interview that the station manager told her she had a good voice, escorted her to the studio, recorded her reading the Star Spangled Banner and then suggested, “You’d do well in voice overs.” Two decades later, Christy is in fact “doing well” and continues to work from her home based professional studio. She loves and excels at what she does and it shows in her body of work. Plus, she’s the only one I know that has ever voiced about the dangers of Bed Bug Mating! Christy grew up in a rural town an hour outside of Cleveland, competed in cooking and public speaking as part of the 4-H program. After graduating college Christy experienced several terrifying situations, including being robbed in her first post-graduate job. And five years ago she suffered a mild stroke. Christy, by any measure, has been successful in the world of VO, and yet she is on a mission to change the sound of a genre of voiceover that for too long has been dominated by men in the world of sports promos. Her Building Doors campaign seeks to literally change the narrative of sports promos by demanding equal opportunities for female voice actors not just in sports, but in male centric brands as well. Her goal is that the door will be built and always remain open.
