STORIES FROM THE STREET
Nobody really knows how many children are surviving on the streets. A UN estimate states that there are 150 million, but the reality is likely higher as street children are often not registered at birth and numbers are said to be rising each year. Brought to you by The Toybox Charity; The Stories from The Street podcast is real talk from real people when it comes to the unimaginably tough world of street children. We’d like to see the spotlight on street children and speak up for those who aren’t being heard. Featuring honest and open discussion about the challenges faced by street children in 2020. Questioning whether the world is moving in the right direction and at the right pace for street children, is anyone listening? We are in this for the long term to see that street children find the help and support they need to build a life away from the dangers of the street, the vicious cycle of poverty and to have the childhood they each deserve. Guests share their first-hand experiences of working alongside street children and their families in the cities, the slums, the refuse dumps as well as the achievements and the success stories which fill us with joy, plus of course the utterly heart wrenching realities of life for a child on the street. Toybox exists to see a world with no street children, together we can make a difference. -- Don’t forget to subscribe through your favourite podcast provider so you don’t miss the next episode! URBAN ECOLOGY PODCAST
The Urban Ecology Podcast tells the ongoing story of the Urban Ecology Center, an “experiment” still in the works in the neighborhoods of Milwaukee that has been connecting people to nature for nearly three decades. We’ll explore the nature-based educational programming and community engagement efforts that help the Urban Ecology Center make a positive impact locally and globally. Through conversations with staff members, volunteers, and community members, each episode of the Urban Ecology Podcast weaves together stories from the past, present, and future of the Urban Ecology Center. What do we do? How do we do it? How can you do it in your community? And perhaps most importantly, why do we do it? Listen in as we continue working to transform kids, parks, cities, and the world. Nothing like having small goals, eh?
MIND'S EYE: A SENSORY GUIDE TO THE GUGGENHEIM NEW YORK
Narrated by some of New York’s most beloved voices, "Mind's Eye: A Sensory Guide to the Guggenheim New York" was designed for the blind and low-vision communities and is illuminating for all. This eleven-episode guide to the New York’s landmark Guggenheim building takes you on a journey of the senses through a UNESCO World Heritage-designated architectural masterpiece. Wherever you choose to listen, the "Mind’s Eye" podcast will transport you into the heart of New York City, and bring you from bustling Fifth Avenue into the glorious internal space of the museum. Rather than examining the building from an architectural perspective, each episode describes one sensory aspect of the space—sound, touch, light—creating a rich aural and physical experience: a new and quietly revolutionary way to explore the Guggenheim.
