Academia vs. Aesthetic Freedom

This week’s "Beauty and the Biz" Podcast features Dr. Francisco Bravo. Specifically, he is a board-certified plastic surgeon in Madrid. Notably, his path to solo success was not a straight line.

On the "Beauty and the Biz" Podcast, Dr. Bravo shares how he built the foundation for a thriving aesthetic practice through years of training and strategic decisions.

First, he trained in Barcelona, London, Paris, Rome, and NYU.

Next, he built credibility in reconstructive microsurgery.

Meanwhile, he balanced university medicine with private practice for 10 years.

Eventually, he made the decision many surgeons struggle with.

Ultimately, he left academic security. Instead, he went all-in on an aesthetic solo practice.

In this episode of the "Beauty and the Biz" Podcast, we discuss:

  • First, how to know when you have enough “momentum” to go solo
  • Next, why impatience is the biggest mistake young surgeons make
  • Then, the financial and emotional risk of investing in a high-end location
  • Additionally, why owning your own surgical facility is a game changer
  • Finally, how instrumental his wife has been in building the practice while raising four kids

One of my favorite lines from him on the "Beauty and the Biz" Podcast:

“ You have to choose two: university, private practice, or family. But you can’t do all three.”

Overall, this episode of the "Beauty and the Biz" Podcast offers a thoughtful and honest look at what it really takes to build a boutique aesthetic practice the right way.

Therefore, if you’re quietly wondering whether it’s time to narrow your focus or elevate your brand, this "Beauty and the Biz" Podcast episode will interest you.

P.S. Obviously, momentum doesn’t happen by accident. Therefore, if you’re ready to elevate your positioning, patient experience, and profitability, book a Practice Growth Review with me.

Indeed, we’ll identify exactly where you’re leaving opportunity on the table — and what to do about it.

"The fastest way to success is to model other successful surgeons who have what you want, but you can only see their results, not the path they took to get there.

So, you continue to jump from one thing to another, hoping to find something that will work for you too, but it rarely does. So, try this shortcut instead. It’s guaranteed to move you forward. I compiled my intellectual property to grow cosmetic revenues, everything I’ve gleaned over the years into one playbook of the most successful practices and what they do to win.
