The Highs and Lows of the Influence Skill

  • High: My team follows my lead. When setting direction, they are engaged and go with me. I am outcome-driven and create forward movement toward the achievement of our organizations key performance Indicators
  • Low: My team is not motivated to follow me, I get push back, low participation and disengagement.

 

Key Words to Describe Influence

  • Movement – we are making progress
  • Achievement – we are getting something done

 

Influence Errors

  • Proceeding with business as usual in a crisis situation
  • Leaving your team to fend for themselves

 

Key Questions

  1. How will you get the person you selected to like you and trust you more? (Select one person from your team)
  2. How will you make sure this person you selected knows you are listening to them when they speak and share?
