85 | Confidence Under Construction
Confidence is one of the most talked-about qualities in sports—and one of the most misunderstood. Many athletes believe confidence comes from making shots, winning games, earning playing time, or hearing praise from coaches. But what happens when performance declines, mistakes pile up, and results don't go your way? Does confidence disappear, or was it never built on the right foundation to begin with? In this episode of All Things Performance, Dr. Josiah Igono tackles some of the most common and important questions athletes ask about confidence: How do I stay confident when I'm not performing well? What's the difference between confidence and arrogance? Can confidence be built, or are some athletes simply born with it? Why does my confidence disappear after one bad game? Drawing from performance psychology, real-world experiences with elite athletes, and practical strategies you can apply immediately, Dr. Igono breaks down the myths that keep athletes trapped in confidence roller coasters and reveals how lasting confidence is actually developed. Whether you're an athlete looking to perform more consistently, a coach seeking to build resilient competitors, or a parent wanting to better support your child through the ups and downs of sports, this episode provides a blueprint for building confidence that can withstand mistakes, setbacks, and pressure. Because true confidence isn't just built when things are going well. It's built when they aren't. 84 | Bones & Belief Systems
Bones & Belief Systems What do your bones and your beliefs have in common? More than you might think. In this thought-provoking episode, Bones & Belief Systems, we explore the fascinating connection between the physical structures that support our bodies and the belief systems that support our lives. You'll discover the remarkable physiological role bones play in providing strength, protection, movement, and adaptation—and how our beliefs serve a similar purpose spiritually, emotionally, and philosophically. The episode examines what happens when bones bend under pressure and how the body's response to stress can reveal powerful truths about personal growth, resilience, and faith. Whether you're navigating trials, building resilience, or seeking a deeper understanding of spiritual growth, this episode offers practical insight and biblical wisdom that will challenge and encourage you. The discussion concludes with two powerful passages of Scripture that bring these concepts into sharp focus: II Timothy 2:3–5, which calls believers to endure hardship with discipline and purpose, and John 16:33, where Jesus reminds us that while trouble is inevitable, peace and victory are found in Him. If you've ever wondered how challenges shape both the body and the soul, this episode will give you a fresh perspective on why strength is often built through resistance—and why the beliefs that withstand pressure become the foundation for a resilient life. You & I May Have UNITY ALL WRONG
During this chapel, we discuss how one of the most coveted traits in sports (unity) is achieved. In the entire sporting cosmos, whether you are talking about winning a Super Bowl, NBA Finals, NCAA championships, etc., you would be hard-pressed to find a team who has not figured out the cheat-code to achieving unity. It is very difficult to achieve monumental tasks without having buy-in and unity from a large group of players, coaches, and supporting staff. In this chapel, the primary ingredients that comprise unity are broken down: understanding, empathy, and action. The players learn in a very hands-on way why “understanding” directly impacts levels of unity. We also discuss the importance of listening and spending time with others. Some of the highest paid professionals in the world or sales people, and and an unlikely trait seems to emerge time and time again when you study them closely. We also break down the “7-4-11 Rule”, and how we can use that in our everyday lives. We are also taught the importance of empathy, and what the Bible says about being empathetic. There’s also an amazing example that highlights the effect of mirror neurons & soldiers (a very little known story that many people do not talk about). Ultimately the chapel ends with the importance of action, and how nothing matters (our knowledge, our words, etc.) if you do not accompany it with action!

TRUE STRENGTH: What It Is, How To Increase It & What God Wants
When it comes to desirable qualities for athletes, strength is usually at the top of the list. In this classroom, some of Arizona Christian University‘s top athletes come together to learn and discuss "STRENGTH". We break down what strength is, how to secure and increase it, and what God wants us to do with our strength. Ironically, there are two sides to every coin. Strength is no different. We learn that to secure great levels of strength, you must also have a healthy understanding of both training and rest. What happens when we train correctly? When we train too frequently? and when we don’t train hard enough? We also learn to understand the importance of rest, and what happens not only spiritually, but physically and mentally as well. This action-packed classroom puts “strength” into perspective, and ultimately finishes off with what God wants us to do with our strength!

Hitting on several elements from Carthaginian wars, historical happenings in the United States, Africa, and abroad, you are sure to learn something that will provoke thinking, after you listen to his take on several issues. Professionally, Dr. Carl Blunt enjoyed a career in Banking and Finance spanning over 35 years, retiring as a Senior Vice President of Bank of America with responsibilities for builder and consumer mortgage lending for the Southwest region of the United States. After retiring, Carl established two entities, Consolidated Resource Partners, a "for profit" entity which provided multiple clients sales training, management recruitment, and seminars along with Arizona Veterans Supportive Services a "non-profit" organization that provided housing, meals and training for homeless veterans in the Metro Phoenix area. Dr. Blunt is also the past Chairman of the Board of the Omega Youth Leadership Academy and has successfully raised community awareness of available scholarships for those aspiring to pursue Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral degrees. Martial Arts: The Power To Hurt & The Power To Heal w/Godeyvio Castro & Josiah Igono
Godeyvio Castro is not just a dedicated educator in traditional martial arts, fitness, and boxing; he’s a transformative guide for those looking to elevate their lives physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Born and raised in a tough urban setting, Godeyvio’s life was shaped by adversity—from witnessing violence and drug abuse to becoming a teenage father at age 16 and later a single dad, his journey was far from easy. At the age of 21, a physical altercation resulted in a felony charge, subsequently expunged, that set him on an entrepreneurial path. He founded Awakening Warriors Institute, a sanctuary for unlocking human potential. Here, Godeyvio focuses on activating the WARRIOR Archetype in individuals, guiding them to enhance their spiritual gifts through astral projection, quantum physics, and esoteric wisdom. Beyond his practical teachings, Godeyvio is an academic with a Master’s in Therapeutic Martial Arts from the American University of Holistic Healing. He is also yoga-certified and holds an elite level boxing coaching certification. His credentials underscore his commitment to being a well-rounded educator. Spiritual growth has always been the cornerstone of Godeyvio’s life. His spiritual journey led him to train with Taoist Monks and explore the jungles of South America, where he further honed his martial arts skills and spiritual practices. One transformative teaching he received was in the meditation practice of Falun Gong. Godeyvio’s global mission has taken him to four continents, where he has spoken to over 6,000 indigenous people, helping them integrate into modern society while honoring their spiritual roots. Closer to home, he offers self-defense classes for men, women, and children in Gilbert, AZ, aiming to elevate their quality of life and instill greater self-confidence.

On Monday, January 2, 2022, the sports world saw something that was rare. Many sports aficionados, analysts, fans, and athletes attest that they had never seen anything like it. After a routine tackle, Buffalo Bill Safety, Damar Hamlin, tackled Tee Higgins of the Cincinnati Bengals. After the tackle, Hamlin is seen getting up to his feet and immediately collapsing back down. After being resuscitated twice, he was administered into care. At the time of his podcast, Damar Hamlin was still in critical condition. Josiah and Derek tackle this tough topic and shine light on specific areas for discussion. Damar #DamarHamlinStrong #TeeHigginsToo Get your free e-book here:
