Ryan explains why autoimmune diseases are on the rise – our modern life looks vastly different than it did one-hundred years ago. Industrialized diseases are also on the rise. Ryan says that it has everything to do with the radical shift in our diets and lifestyles. Unfortunately, it is out of alignment with what our body expects from us. Later, Ryan talks about thyroid health and his Hashimoto's diagnosis. After Ryan found out about his diagnosis, he made significant changes to his lifestyle. If you are looking to make substantial changes, the first step is to see a functional medicine doctor. Stay tuned as Ryan speaks about optimizing gut health and the one-percent change rule. Disordered Eating with Certified Eating Disorder Registered Dietitian Melainie Rogers MEP046
Melainie Rogers, MS, RDN, CDN, CEDRD-S, is a Certified Eating Disorder Registered Dietitian (CEDRD) and Supervisor and is dedicated to supporting others in their quest to achieve long-term recovery. She is the Founder and Executive Director of BALANCE eating disorder treatment center™ and melainie rogers nutrition, llc. In this episode, Erin talks to Melainie Rogers about how to know if you have a problem with food. Melainie says to ask yourself: ‘How much of my day do I spend worrying about food?’ If you often ask yourself question after question about food each day, then it might suggest a problem or obsessiveness. We strive to have a neutral relationship with food. Erin likes to think of food as fuel for our bodies. Also, if anxiety is stirred up surrounding food, it could suggest an unhealthy relationship with food. Then, Melainie explains the difference between disordered eating and an eating disorder. These fall along a spectrum. Disordered eating is when symptoms of overeating or restricting occur. These behaviors may happen once a week or once a month. However, it’s still distressing and should be of concern. Someone who is restricting most days of the week or also bingeing, that’s an eating disorder. The symptoms and behaviors are the same, it’s just less frequency. Disordered eating is still important, troublesome, and dangerous. Later, Melainie explains how social media plays a role in our self-image. Social media will give us a constant stream of images for us to compare ourselves to. Pre social media, we were only exposed to TV, magazines, and billboards. With social media, we have it 24/7. As we scroll, we are comparing ourselves. Whenever we compare ourselves to others, it always make us feel bad. Social media is one of the reasons we are seeing an uptick in eating disorders at this time. Stay tuned as Erin and Melainie talk about the relationship between women’s thoughts and their diets, why we need to change our “healthy” eating vocabulary, and much more! In This Episode: [00:30]About today’s guest, Melainie Rogers [01:00] How to know if you have a problem with food [03:00] The difference between eating disorders and binge-eating [06:10] How social media plays a role in our self-image [10:05] The connection between women’s thoughts and their diets [13:25] Why we shouldn’t say “clean eating” [17:15] About Orthorexia [20:50] Taking baby steps with your thoughts [24:20] When to take the first step in seeking help Quotes: “Disordered eating is like a badly sprained ankle – it’s still really bad, it might bother you for a few years, causing you a lot of pain, distress, and discomfort.” “When we compare ourselves, we usually feel worse about ourselves; it lowers our self-esteem and lowers our self-confidence. Also, it creates a distortion that we need to look like that person.” “Our mental anxiety can only increase because we feel like we are performing shortly.” “The most helpful relationship with people is food neutrality.” Resources: IG: website: Facebook page: Facebook group: YouTube: LinkedIn: Pinterest: Twitter: Join my posse at our podcast Facebook group: Redefining Wellness: The Ultimate Diet Free Guide: __________________________ Guest: Melainie Rogers Feel free to reach out to Melainie below: Twitter: Website: Instagram: Facebook: YouTube: Pinterest: Free Recovery Handbook: __________________________

Sunlight provides benefits for our body’s processes; however, it can also harm your body. Red light is safer for our bodies and our bodies are more comfortable with reaping the benefits. These are some of the main advantages of red light therapy: Skin health Wound healing Circulation Less pain and inflammation Hormonal health Gut health How does red light therapy help our gut? Red light therapy is beneficial to your gut microbiome & you apply the light to your abdomen. It can help the balance of good and bad gut microbiome. Basically, red light therapy will create balance & it’s interesting to see how you can improve. Light will penetrate deep and alter biome in your gut lining. Do you need to prepare for red light therapy? Make sure you are adequately hydrated before red light therapy. Thomas says that fat will help your body convert it to energy, like MCT oil, and make it easier to feel energized during red light therapy. Plus, Thomas & Babsi speak about how red light therapy is used for recovery. Olympic teams have a red light booth to put the athletes in before and after training. We combined our professional expertise in lighting technology and psychology, sprinkled them with our experiences, and created a company that breaks down scientific research and offers high-end red light therapy devices. In the simplest terms, with Luminousred, we created a company that breaks down scientific research and offers high-end at-home red light therapy devices. Usually, products in the field can run up to 140k dollars and are only used by Olympic athletes or NASA astronauts. But to be honest, our true purpose goes far deeper than that. Due to health issues around two years ago, Thomas was in a situation in which his body suddenly lost its performance. Together we explored intensively on biohacking, and after many experiments, Thomas managed to make his body even more powerful. One major steppingstone here was red light therapy. We are hackers at heart, and we see that technologies, like light hacking, are only going to become mainstream and used by everyday people a long time ahead of us. And that is a pity. That is why we want to make that technology accessible for everyone to incorporate into daily life. And people who take the plunge and get a device for themselves usually cannot grasp the full extent of research and the ideal individual usage of this technology because it is not shown to them in detail. This mixture of factors leads to vast incomprehension among them. We want to change that and want to use this promising technology and make it more accessible and understood. People think public relations and marketing are the same things – they are totally different. PR is the thing that shows your credibility and helps you level up; it makes your marketing look better. PR is the know, like, and trust factor – it will change your online presence and your online footprint. Mediums are changing like crazy; new media is YouTube, Podcasts, and web shows. Jeremy teaches the small pond strategy. He’s from a town where nothing really happens, yet built a media footprint using a local newspaper that goes to everyone’s houses once a week. Next, Jeremy explains the importance of branding. Branding is the reason someone would choose you over someone else. If you don’t differentiate yourself from other brands, then you are just promoting a generic product rather than your product. People do business with people that they know. Build your brand as an individual and rise above the noise. Also, Jeremy speaks about the inspiration behind his podcast and his business, Command Your Brand. Jeremy has harnessed his limitless mindset to create abundance in his life – it hasn’t always been perfect or pretty. Some problematic situations will arise in our life; it helps to address ourselves as a spiritual being. Scientology is an applied religious philosophy that comes with tools to grow your business – it has been a massive game-changer for Jeremy. Listen to Jeremy speak about how good nutrition attributes to entrepreneurial success, and discusses multiple income streams, food awareness, and what you can expect when working with Jeremy. In this episode, Good Dee’s Deana opens the show talking about her baking mixes and cookies. Deana has not always had a positive relationship with food. Back in the day, Deana was insecure and did not understand everything about nutrition. No matter how much weight she would lose, she would have a distorted image of herself. Now, Deana has a positive relationship with food; food can be for memories, it can be delicious, and it is beautiful. She no longer has the voice in the back of her head, telling her to stop talking about food. Deana doesn’t look at food as bad or good; it’s either delicious or not delicious. When you first start low carb, it seems like such a huge task. Deana loves to cook, and she loves to bake. She was feeling so good without her carbs; however, she started craving chocolate chip cookies. Deana made a mix with sunflower seed flour. Her blends are gluten-free and sugar-free. View this interview on YouTube ! In this episode, Michele D’Angona joins the show and explains her transformation. Before Michele trained thousands of clients for over 10 years, she came out of a really unhealthy lifestyle. To regain control over her physical body, Michele had to be willing to go into dark corners of herself. When you harness the power of healthy eating, you begin to become empowered in many different ways. Michele always cared about superficial aspects of her body. However, she transformed and stopped partying and drinking. Shutting this down opened her up to her mental strength and manifestation. After Michele’s first show, she fell into a depression because she started gaining water weight and felt like she had no discipline. Now, Michele has developed programs that are spiritual and empowering experiences. Michele loves bringing people together and leading them on a path. Michele believes in following her intuition and had a vision of building a transformative healing center in Belize. In Belize, Michele realized that there was all this land for sale on an eco-community. She ended up buying the land from Canadians. People will be able to have a retreat like experience. Plus, Michele will rent it out to other practitioners, leaders, and guides who want to have their own retreat. Later, Michele speaks about the importance of nutrition. Erin & Michele discuss the significance of proper nourishment. At one point, she tried a vegan diet, despite the lack of information and healthy options out there. Michele lost 10 lbs of muscle mass in two weeks. We need to listen to our bodies and utilize intuitive eating. Just because everyone else eats rice, doesn’t mean it is right for our body. Listen to hear more about Michele’s herbalism studies, her online coaching business, and why she had to quit social media before returning again to help others along their physical and spiritual transformation journeys. Michele & Erin initially met in Bali and discuss the significance of spiritual awareness and evolution. The body mind and soul connection can lead to such beautiful awakenings. Know Your Why with Personal Trainer Brittany Culp MEP036
Blind NQ Bikini Competitor Explains Why Our Mindset is the Biggest Obstacle In this episode, Brittany explains how fitness found her via a bodybuilding Facebook ad. After her first show, she was hooked and continues to compete. People give up way before their body ever does. Brittany has multiple degrees in psychology, so she combines her mindset hacks into workouts with clients. If your motivation is fleeting, you need to have persistence and dedication. In the new year, people are very motivated to start their fitness goals. As the months go on, the motivation begins to deplete when other obligations come into play. Finding the right balance is where people get discouraged. If you are getting into fitness, know that your nutrition is a massive part of it. As long as you’re eating right for your body, that’s an enormous chunk of it right there. Brittany talks about how finding your why will push you to start right away. Sometimes it takes longer for people to find their why, as long as you focus on yourself – then you will always be improving. Make time for yourself and fit in exercise when you can. Nutrition is going to be the majority of weight-loss and health goals. Brittany explains the difference between her gym and franchise gyms. At big-box gyms, the machines will be taken, and your personal trainer will have to work around all the other gym patrons. Whereas, at One Fit Gym, the personal trainers can work on whatever station they need. Stay tuned to hear Brittany describe the challenges she had to overcome and ways to achieve your goals. Gregori Lukas shares the evolution of pet food. After working with a Holistic Veterinarian, he began educating dog & cat owners on why raw food is best. He opened THEO Pet Grocery in Montclair, NJ to make these options available to pet owners by selling excellent products, in addition to sharing information on feeding a species appropriate diet & how it can increase the health and longevity of our pets. His store is partly named after his dog Theo, but also yields a significant message with it’s acronym: The Healthy Evolutionary Options . Gregori also created a large facebook group called Holistic Animal Advice and Raw Feeding - THEO Pet Grocery to discuss and spread awareness of the latest in the pet food industry, alongside multiple Holistic Veterinarians. He talks about how the old ways of the pet food industry has really caused a lot of illness in our animals and it's evolved to what it is today, with the raw food movement. Erin asks the tough question of why most Veterinarians don’t advise we feed Raw Food. Thanks to Gregori, more information is being shared to educate all of us on the immense benefits of feeding fresh. The two talk about their favorite brand on the market currently, called Answers. Erin feels it’s an excellent start to switching your dog to fresh food. In addition, Gregori talks about the various ways we unknowingly introduce our pets to dangerous disease causing toxins and how there are safe alternatives we can replace those with. Provided below is a link to help you find a Holistic Vet in your area. Some integrate both Eastern & Western medicinal methods to help the symptoms your pet is experiencing. Erin thanks Gregori for taking part in My Empower Project where he ENLIGHTENS us, EMPOWERS pet owners to do your own research, encourages how we must EMBRACE the need to change, & EMBARK on stepping out of the norm, for own precious pets. They are family, and we are their entire world. Dr. Chris is a pain specialist focusing on adhesion treatment. He talks about soft tissue in our body and why so many suffer with pain for so long. Erin & Dr. Chris also chatted off the cuff about depression, emotional healing and keeping an open mind. In this episode, Erin talks to Dr. Chris about lingering aches and pains & what happens if we let them go untreated. Long-term continuing pain is, as Dr. Chris puts it, “like a small fire inside of your house….Pain is a signal from the brain, telling the body hey, there’s damage, and we need to do something about this…, or it will continue to grow and become more of a problem.” He further explains, “if you're doing things that are only giving you temporary relief, same thing, it's kind of like the fire gets turned to a very low flame, but because it's a fire and it just needs oxygen and wood and fuel, you will do put more stress on it and the fire will inevitably grow bigger again until ultimately what we see in our clinic is a fire. It comes close to burning somebody's whole house down.” They speak further about soft tissue work and Dr. Chris has thought about putting himself out there on social media about treating chronic pain and having a face-off with another doctor. Dr. Chris feels it is heartbreaking to see people who are stuck in pain, and that is why does the best he can to educate people about the problem. There are misconceptions about how to keep your body performing in tip-top shape. The biggest misconception is that being tight means you need to stretch. Feed Your Dog Real Raw Food & CBD the Right Way w/ Peter Ciancarelli MEP023
Bio Peter Ciancarelli is a pet health and longevity coach from Medfield, Massachusetts. He's founder of the popular Facebook group, Allie's Canine Cancer Crew, a consultant for California-based whole molecule CBD and THC cannabis oil collective “King Harvest", and is also a special education teacher, working with children and young adults with Autism for almost a decade. It was his experiences and setbacks with his dog, Allie, that ignited a years-long search for answers, options, and alternatives, outside of the conventional information he trusted and led to Allie's health struggles and deterioration. He's since helped her rebound on a remarkable level, and is on a mission to educate and inspire others on what they can do to help their beloved pets live their best life possible. In this episode, Erin talks to Peter Ciancarelli about how we can best take care of our pets. Research tells us that dogs can live to be in their 20s & 30s. Peter refused to lose the love of his life because he didn’t properly research how to best care for his pet. We should not be feeding our dogs “dog food” because it is heavily processed. Why are dogs dying so young? There are two main factors – they inherited genes from wolves and the food we feed them. We are not giving dogs what they need as animals. Another way we can ensure longevity is by exercising them. Take a leap of faith and try something new – do your own homework to understand what will be best for your furry friend fully. Then, Peter talks about how the environment can be damaging the health of our pets. Pesticides and chemical buildup can easily damage our health as well as our dogs. The bottles can say “safe for animals,” but we need to think on our own. Data is not always accurate because we have to think about where the information is coming from. Once Allie overcame her health issues, Peter found King Harvest. He researched CBD for an entire year because he got oil for himself and his dog. He uses it for the prevention of inflammation, which is the root cause of severe health concerns. King Harvest stands out to Peter because they have been by his side throughout the entire process. They have different recommendations for the time of day and the type of disorder you are treating. Later, Peter discusses why we need to introduce our animals to bacteria, intermittent fasting for dogs, and the story about him and Allie. In This Episode: [02:20] About Peter [04:00] What you should be feeding your dogs [09:20] About Allie [13:00] Finding a community of like-minded individuals [21:20] Environment is affecting the health of dogs [25:30] Working with King Harvest [34:20] Exposing dogs to bacteria [37:20] Work with a veterinarian [41:50] Intermittent fasting for dogs [44:10] How to find Peter [45:00] Peter tells the story about how he adopted Allie “There is no such thing as dog food and human food; it’s all just food.” “96% of the population still feeds processed foods to their animals.” “I got my parents to change from using pesticides to using an essential oil spray.” “When it comes to CBD – start slow.” Resources: IG: website: Facebook page: Facebook group: YouTube: LinkedIn: Pinterest: Twitter: Join my posse at our podcast Facebook group: __________ Guest: Peter Ciancarelli – Allie’s Canine Cancer Crew Facebook Group: Peter’s Facebook: King Harvest: Listen to My Empower Project here: iTunes Google Play Stitcher Spotify iHeartRadio
