Vanity Metrics vs Impact Metrics show art Vanity Metrics vs Impact Metrics

Talk with Linda Reed-Enever

It’s easy to get distracted by big numbers in marketing. Likes, views, follower counts and viral moments can look impressive, but they don’t always tell the full story. What really matters is whether your marketing is creating connection, momentum, action, and making an impact for your business. In this episode, I unpack the difference between vanity metrics and impact metrics, and why shifting your focus can completely change how effective your marketing feels and performs. This is about moving away from surface-level wins and towards results that actually support your business growth....

Maximising Impact Through Content Repurposing show art Maximising Impact Through Content Repurposing

Talk with Linda Reed-Enever

There’s a quiet pressure many business owners carry when it comes to content, the feeling that you need to be everywhere, all the time, creating something new for every platform.  It’s exhausting, unrealistic, and completely unnecessary. You don’t need to split yourself across seven platforms or reinvent the wheel every week. You need a smart, sustainable way to let your ideas travel further. That’s where content repurposing comes in.  In this episode, I’m unpacking how repurposing helps you show up consistently, build visibility, and keep your marketing human without...

The “What Do You Do” Question and How to Answer It show art The “What Do You Do” Question and How to Answer It

Talk with Linda Reed-Enever

It’s amazing how four simple words can throw even the most experienced business owner completely off track. So what do you do? You hear it at networking events, school pick-up, family gatherings, conferences, everywhere, and yet, so many of us freeze, over-explain, or fall back on something vague and forgettable. But this question isn’t a test. It’s an invitation. And when you answer it clearly, simply, and confidently, you open the door to opportunities, referrals, and meaningful conversations. In this episode, I’m breaking down how to create a simple yet impactful answer that...

Why You Should Be Sharing Your Ideas show art Why You Should Be Sharing Your Ideas

Talk with Linda Reed-Enever

Many business owners sit on brilliant ideas for months, even years, because they’re afraid to share them too soon. They worry someone will copy them, they’re not ready, or they need to wait for the “perfect version” to emerge. But here’s the truth I’ve seen again and again as a marketing strategist and business community leader: your ideas can’t create impact if no one knows they exist. Ideas only grow when they’re shared, explored, and allowed to take shape out in the world. Today, I’m diving into why your ideas deserve daylight and what shifts when you stop guarding them...

Creating Idea-Rich Communities show art Creating Idea-Rich Communities

Talk with Linda Reed-Enever

There’s a big difference between a group and a community, and an even bigger difference between a community and one that’s idea rich. These are the spaces where people feel energised, where ideas bounce around freely, and where members genuinely want to return because something meaningful happens there. Idea-rich communities don’t grow accidentally. They’re shaped with intention by those that create them, guided with care, and fuelled by curiosity, generosity, and shared purpose.  In this episode, I’m walking you through how to build communities that think, create, and...

How to Be a Thought Leader Without the Fluff show art How to Be a Thought Leader Without the Fluff

Talk with Linda Reed-Enever

“Thought leadership” is one of those terms that’s been used so much it has lost its meaning. Somewhere along the line, it became more about status than service, more about sounding smart than being helpful. Real thought leadership isn’t about jargon or performance. It’s about clarity, courage, and contribution: saying what you mean and helping people. It’s about being brave enough to think for yourself, generous enough to share what you’ve learned, and grounded enough to stay human through it all. In this episode, I’m pulling back the curtain on what genuine thought leadership...

Spotting Trends Before They Become the Norm show art Spotting Trends Before They Become the Norm

Talk with Linda Reed-Enever

Some business owners have a knack for spotting trends before everyone else catches on. And it’s not luck, but a skill. The ability to see what’s shifting in your industry, what people are craving, and what’s quietly changing before it becomes mainstream can completely change how you position yourself and your business. But here’s the truth: trend-spotting isn’t about chasing every new thing. It’s about listening differently, paying attention to frustration, and being curious enough to notice the patterns that others overlook.  In this episode, I’m sharing how to develop that...

Creating Unique Offers in a Saturated Market show art Creating Unique Offers in a Saturated Market

Talk with Linda Reed-Enever

If you’ve ever looked around your industry and thought, “Everyone’s offering the same thing,” you’re not imagining it. Every market has noise, and standing out isn’t about shouting louder. It’s about showing up differently. Being unique doesn’t always mean inventing something brand new. Often, it’s about reimagining what already exists and delivering it in a way that feels distinctly you.  In this episode, I’m sharing how to uncover the magic within your existing offers and turn it into something people remember, connect with, and keep coming back for. How to Stand Out...

How to Be Seen as an Innovator in Your Industry show art How to Be Seen as an Innovator in Your Industry

Talk with Linda Reed-Enever

When we think of innovators, we often picture the big names: the ones who build rockets, create tech empires, or disrupt entire industries. But innovation isn’t limited to billion-dollar ideas or global platforms. True innovation happens in the everyday. When you see things differently, experiment with new approaches, and turn challenges into opportunities. It’s about bringing fresh thinking into familiar spaces and consistently showing up with ideas that move things forward. The good news? You don’t have to be loud or flashy to be seen as an innovator. You just have to be intentional,...

More Episodes
Have you ever had one of those lightbulb moments sparked by something completely unrelated to your field? Maybe a café’s reward system gave you an idea for keeping clients engaged, or a podcast on a totally different topic triggered a clever improvement in your business. That’s the beauty of creative cross-pollination, the practice of taking inspiration from other industries and adapting it to your own. It’s one of my favourite strategies because it keeps ideas fresh, opens up new ways of thinking, and proves that innovation often begins with a single curious question: What if I tried that here? Let’s explore how you can take inspiration from unexpected places and turn it into practical marketing strategies that create real momentum in your business. How to Borrow Brilliance from Other Industries See Inspiration Everywhere If you want to think differently, you have to look differently. Staying in your own lane limits your perspective, while stepping outside it helps you spot the ideas hiding in plain sight. Look at how other industries approach their challenges: - Hospitality creates experiences that customers remember long after they leave. - Technology thrives on seamless, user-friendly interactions. - Retail builds lasting loyalty through storytelling and emotion. Each of these approaches offers something worth adapting. Once you start observing how others connect, sell, and serve, you’ll begin to see possibilities everywhere. Borrow, Don’t Clone Cross-pollination isn’t about copying what others do. It’s about translating the concept to suit your audience and brand. Take fitness apps, for instance. Their progress streaks and milestone badges keep users motivated. You can apply the same idea in your business by creating visual progress tools, such as Progress Tracking Trees, which help your clients see and celebrate their wins. Or consider how subscription boxes create excitement with unexpected bonuses. That same sense of anticipation could enhance your memberships or programs through quarterly surprises or themed updates. The goal isn’t to mimic the surface-level tactic; it’s to understand the psychology behind why it works and make it your own. A Lesson from the Loyalty Card A business owner I once worked with was struggling to maintain consistent workshop attendance. Together, we borrowed an idea straight from the café world: the loyalty card. Participants earned a “stamp” for each session they attended, with a bonus session after a certain number were completed. Attendance rose significantly because the approach felt fun, familiar, and rewarding. It worked because it played to a universal principle: people love progress and recognition. Build Your Ideas Garden Great ideas show up when you’re open to noticing them. Create your own Ideas Garden, a collection of concepts, visuals, and marketing tactics that catch your attention. Jot them down in a notebook, on an app, or on a whiteboard. Then, when you’re planning new campaigns, revisit your garden and ask: - What emotion does this idea tap into? - What problem does it solve cleverly? - How might I adapt it for my audience? Over time, you’ll grow a living library of inspiration that’s uniquely yours and ready to feed your creativity when you need it most. Key Takeaway Creativity isn’t about reinventing everything from scratch. It’s about paying attention, analysing what works, and reimagining it in your own world. The smartest ideas often come from outside your industry, if you stay curious enough to notice them. Action Steps to Take This week, pick a business in a completely different industry and study it with fresh eyes. - How do they create loyalty or engagement? - What emotions are they sparking? - Which of their approaches could you adapt to your own work? Experiment, refine, and see what resonates. When you borrow brilliance thoughtfully, innovation becomes second nature.
